Review of The Thin Blue Line (1988) by Lorenzo R — 07 Dec 2008
Brilliant investigative documentary about a murder happened in 1976 in Dallas, for which Randall Adams, innocent, was convicted and sent to death. The sentence was eventually overturned by the supreme court into life prison in 1980. The film, made in 1988, reopened the case and was one of the factors that helped Adams' final release.
This is a clean and effective reconstruction, through some talking heads and great visual representation by Errol Morris and probably an all new way at that time of doing documentaries, which was thereafter followed by many other directors. Philip Glass signs a beautiful score that really makes a huge difference.
