Review of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning (2006) by Stephanie G — 29 Mar 2013
It's not absolutely necessary and it strips its killer of some of its mistery, but the prequel to the TCM remake is a solid effort that expands the story from the 2003 film and manages to retain most of its suspense and (not always, but mostly) effective gore.
While the new young characters are a bit pointless, the deranged family is interesting, especially R. Lee Ermey who plays a very convincing maniac. Overall, It's a good horror film that many fans of the genre and the franchise will find entertaining.
