Review of The Ten Commandments (1956) by Jeremy B — 31 Dec 2009
If my Hebrew School teachers had just explained to me that the reason Moses and Ramses didn't get along is because they were involved in a steamy love triangle with Eve Harrington, I can guarantee you I would have paid more attention to their lessons on Exodus! What a gloriously decadent movie this is, with endless spectacle, still impressive special effects, a glorious Elmer Bernstein score and Charlton Heston, Yul Brynner, Anne Baxter and Edward G.
Robinson chewing the scenery whole and spitting it back out again. The only mystery is why so many people take this camp classic so seriously?
