Review of The Ten Commandments (1956) by Troy F — 09 Aug 2010
The Ten Commandments left me extremely stunned in awe at how much of a brilliant acheivement this is in filmmaking. Cecil B. DeMille took the legendary story of Moses and his goal of freeing the Hebrews and attaining the ten commandments, and made it into a masterpiece.
The production values are outstanding and the special effects are technically impressive for the time. The performances never failed to impress, with Charlton Heston as Moses making one of the best performances I've ever had the pleasure of seeing on screen.
It may have greatly aged by time (or in other words, quite dated), but it remains an unforgettable classic that could never be beaten by any other film that would attempt to retell the same story.
