Review of War and Peace (1956) by Linda N — 05 Jan 2012
Beautifully shot by cinematographer Jack Cardiff. 3.5 hours of an attempt to stay true to the book. Much less boring to just read the book (lol). I had to take a couple of intermissions to get thorough the whole thing.
Fonda is VERY young (fun to watch). Hepburn is her cute little self. (Yawn). Of course the cinematography is superb. The film moves from "moving painting" to "moving painting. Cardiff is the master par none!
