Review of The Taking of Pelham One Two Three (1974) by Dan B — 02 Jun 2009
Pretty damn entertaining, if you ask me. Walter Mattau's Joisey accent got on my nerves a bit, but to be fair, it suited his character. As for Robert Shaw, he played an excellent villain, and he was accompanied by a great cast playing his henchmen.
The plot is more-or-less a simple concept (bad guy's holding a train car hostage, stop him or the people aboard are fucked), but the movie's well-written dialogue and great cast makes it a worthwhile watch regardless of it's bare-bones story.
It's available for streaming at a couple of websites, and I think people oughta check it out if they haven't yet.
