Review of The Taking of Pelham One Two Three (1974) by Kevin S — 20 May 2013
This exciting action movie is about armed criminals taking over a subway train with hostages in attempt to collect one million dollars. On the other end of the walkie keeping in touch with the bad guys is lieutenant darber who is trying his best to stop them from killing hostages while the money is being sent to them.
This movie delivers very well with suspense and action. Both main actors are very good and made sure their characters stayed interesting. This is my first movie seeing Walter Matthau playing a serious role.
I think his execution as lieutenant darber was right on. Robert shaw as seen before can pull off the role as a villian with no trouble. And same as in this movie he is as cruel and villainous at his best.
I think this movie is a very fast fun action movie filled with great suspense. This movie fires on all cylinders.
