Review of The Taking of Pelham One Two Three (1974) by John C — 17 Jun 2009
Capturing the mental image of watching "Pelham" in 1974 is the equivalent of saying you saw Nirvana in 1989; you were there, watching a piece of pop culture being born.
Sure, there were other capers before this one, but this one set the tone for the other dark, quick-cutting, fast-talking films that would still be inspired 25+ years later.
"Pelham" did for me what "Heat" did when I first watched it - convinced me that I could not only pull off such a slick heist, but look quite the bad-ass while doing it.
