Review of The Taking of Pelham One Two Three (1974) by Vance B — 04 Dec 2011
A good crime thriller from the 1970s. What keeps this film from being formulaic is the cast, which turns in very believable performances. Robert Shaw (Jaws) and Walter Matthau (The Odd Couple) have great screen presences.
The hostages aboard the subway train, though not well developed, are established as living, breathing human beings rather than pawns for the filmmakers to kill whenever they like.
