This film is amazing. Quite likely my favorites of the samurai genre. It's intense. It's beautiful. The artistry of the swordmanship is overwhelming. I watched this film 3 times one week, just trying to take it all in.
I became a fan of Tatsuya Nakadai from his frequent presence in Naruse's films. I was excited to see him in this. His performance is masterful.
