Review of The Sword of Doom (1966) by Cale R — 26 Feb 2008
One hell of a violent movie for 1966 and definitely a true classic of the samurai genre. Tatsuya Nakadai is brilliant as the merciless sociopath Ryunosuke. Every time I watch another Toshiro Mifune movie he climbs higher and higher on my list of all time favorite actors.
the only real downfall is the abrupt ending, and that is only because it was originally planned as a trilogy. How can you not love a samurai movie that ends with a kill count of approximately 122.
