Review of The Sword of Doom (1966) by Olly H — 21 Feb 2011
Tatsuya Nakadai is the perfect mad villain in this. Originally intended as a trilogy, the film ends on a cliffhanger, but no sequels were ever made. Thankfully the ending still works, albeit in a different way than was intended.
My only problem with this film is the pacing. Extremely solid first act, hazy middle bit, solid third act. That's the only thing stopping this from being a masterpiece. But it's still for sure a 4-star movie.
