Review of The Swimmer (1968) by Kevin H — 12 Apr 2009
This film is quite different but also quite good in a surreal sort of way. Burt Lancaster is excellent as a character who decides to swim home one day, going from pool to pool in order. As he swims through each pool he sees stories of his past coming to life in front of him, all of which lead towards home.
With fine performances from the rest of the cast and some solid direction, The Swimmer is a fine film and well worth a watch for any fan of offbeat cinema.
