Review of The Swarm (1978) by Erik W — 30 Apr 2009
Hilariously awful Disaster/Nature-Run-Amuck Event Flick and notorious bomb.. Everything about this movie is bloated (especially its running time of 2.5hrs+) and yet its all so empty. That being said, this is a so-bad-it's-good adventure with a sprawling (and slumming) cast including Michael Caine (who's very VERY angry in every moment) Katherine Ross (who must be on Quaaludes) and Henry Fonda (who was in like every one of these movies in the 70's).
And don't forget the super-smart bees: they crash helicopters, de-rail trains, infiltrate an underground missile base and blow up a nuclear plant (which they somehow survive). And its all done with the straight face of a "big important movie event" (its not just a movie.
..it's a "prediction!") Load up the cheese and enjoy.
