Review of The Sunset Limited (2011) by Blake L — 13 Sep 2012
With great confidence I can say that this is the best film of 2011. Never before in my life I have felt so compelled to re-watch a film the moment it ended. I can not be subjective about this one though as I am a HUGE fan of Cormac McCarthy's work.
It's very difficult to end up with such a balanced film when you are debating over a so dangerous and serious issue, still the script balances amazingly both sides of the "argument". It's like watching a philosophical debate between a priest and a scientist about life, death, suicide, God, science, the state of man, the notion that knowledge is a burden, and many more.
And in the end is "White" good, and "Black" wrong? or is it the other way around? Both of them have compelling and powerful arguments. Are they enough to influence the others perception and understanding? Will it change your own perception? Regardless of your or lack of faith, this film challenges you to think, not only about religion, but about mankind itself.
And that's rare, that's very rare. I can write so much about this film, but words cannot do it justice. Please watch this film, it's a definite 10 out of 10 in my books.
