Review of The Stupids (1996) by Jeff H — 21 May 2008
I woke up around 4AM the other day and caught the last hour of this on comedy central (I just can't escape Tom Arnold! Ahhhh!) Huge box office flop. Spent $25 million making it (compared to the MUCH better 1994 hit, Dumb and Dumber which only spent $16 million and made it all back opening weekend) it barely grossed $3 million.
Like Dumb and Dumber, the title is critic-proof ("Well yeah, it's CALLED The Stupids!") John Landis just can't do comedy.
