Review of The Straight Story (1999) by Stephen E — 10 Nov 2012
I appreciate how much different (and cleaner) the subject matter of "The Straight Story" is from the rest of David Lynch's outings, even though the director still sort of maintains his trademark quirky style in it.
Because of this, "The Straight Story" is little bit more interesting to watch than it would have been if directed by someone else, but then again, there's also the gentle, understated performance of Richard Farnsworth and Angelo Badalamenti's beautiful score that contribute to the film's warm tone.
The fact that Lynch directed something that isn't dark, weird or filled with nudity and violence is a reason to watch "The Straight Story," but it surely isn't the only one.
