Review of The Spy Who Came In from the Cold (1965) by Scott M — 10 Aug 2008
I continue to love Richard Burton in everything I see him in. This spy thriller is completely unorthodox, relying more on dialogue, as characters are so unsure as to who their enemies are that they start trying to outwit their allies.
Burton gives one of the greatest monologues I've heard in any spy movie at the end, and I love the final moments of the film as well. This is a tense drama that builds steadily toward a fiery conclusion.
If there was one primary theme to the movie, I'd say that it is loyalty, and what true loyalty is.
