Every bit the classic it is made out to be. I am not a fan of musicals, but this is great. The scenes flow into the music perfectly. Just about every song sticks pleasantly in your head.
Plot is fairly basic, but good. Direction by Robert Wise is spot-on. Cinematography is great. The Austrian mountainscapes are amazingly beautiful and provide the perfect backdrop.
Performances by Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer are great. The kids are mostly unconvincing and overly sweet though.
