Review of The Skin I Live In (2011) by Maria U — 11 Mar 2012
This is a deeply disturbing and perverse movie. I think the viewer is required to detach from the story and just become an observer of a very good Art House Horror film, if such genre exists. Beware of reading reviews that may contain spoilers, as one of the beauties of this film is the way the details of the story are masterfully revealed bit by bit as the movie progresses.
Certainly the Hitchcock references can be seen here, same as classic horror films like Frankenstein. Every frame of this movie looks fantastic. Nothing like a Director who can create beauty from the ugly and bizarre.
