Review of The Skin I Live In (2011) by J L — 20 Feb 2012
'The Skin I Live In' is a modern day 'Eyes Without A Face'. It may not be as lyrical and poetically visual as that 1960 French cult classic, but Almodovar's artistry comes from a Argento sensibility, twisted 'Hitchcockian' narratives, and photographic compositions of a Cronenberg picture.
It's a brilliantly dark and erotic melodrama. The more I see of Almodovar's work, the more I like.
