Review of The Shop Around the Corner (1940) by Nadine L — 14 May 2008
The best! I love Jimmy Stewart, and this is the story that "You've Got Mail" was based off of! The lines are similiar... though more old-fashioned. (Instead of Meg Ryan calling Tom Hanks an empty suit, Margaret Sullivan compares Jimmy Stewart's intellect to a "cigarette lighter that doesn't work").
This version isn't set in NYC but Budapest, Hungaryi! Awesome movie!
