Review of The Shop Around the Corner (1940) by Jacob M — 22 Dec 2013
Pretty fun romantic comedy back in the Golden Age of Hollywood starring Jimmy Stewart, Margaret Sullivan, and Frank "The Wizard of Oz" Morgan. To some it's considered a staple of the Christmas season.
While it's by no means a true Christmas film, The Shop Around the Corner has a very entertaining cast filled with great acting all around (including Jimmy Stewart, one of my all-time favorites) and the comedy is fairly good for a romantic comedy that would have been extremely cheesy and syrupy had it been made today by the Hallmark Channel.
I'm glad I watched it.
