Review of The Shop Around the Corner (1940) by Keenan S — 12 Aug 2011
It's such a shame not as many people know about this wonderful romantic comedy as they should. It manages to be both humorous and yet it also knows how to tap into the emotions of the viewer and make them become involved with such a delightful cast of characters.
The chemistry between James Stewart (It's A Wonderful Life) and Margaret Sullivan is stunning, and really lights up an already wonderful film. However, the story itself and its ability to develop so many characters is what really makes this film so superb.
I urge you to see it because this film deserved much more attention than it's gotten.
