Review of The Shootist (1976) by Steven B — 10 May 2010
This was the last film John Wayne was ever involved in, and he was quite good. This film simply was John Wayne's life, he himself at this stage of his life actually had cancer.
Jimmy Stewart was great as the 'straight down the line' doctor, Ron Howard was good as the little side kick so to speak. It was a little all over the place in parts but overall interesting and involving enough to enjoy as story set in the west.
Any true fan of John Wayne would really appreciate this, this film no doubt was a very personal to the 'King of Westerns' and a must see in his long line of films...
