Review of Lonely are the Brave (1962) by Michael L — 08 Jun 2017
This film's premise failed completely for me - Douglas, the stereotypical "free man," ambles into town and finds out his friend has gone to jail. Douglas, thus, gets himself arrested to see said friend, but because he is a true "free man," he cannot abide life in a cage and charmingly escapes prison.
He is then pursued by sheriff Walter Matthau, who must portray grudging and completely unearned respect to the renegade. It's a vapid cliche wrapped in a nonsense plot.
