Review of The Shootist (1976) by John O — 29 Mar 2009
The Duke's last movie. In the film he plays an ailing gunfighter dying from cancer. This parallels Wayne's bout with the disease in real life, and offers a fitting farewell one of the greatest, if not the greatest, western actor of all time.
Not one of his finest movies, but a good one nonetheless, and with him dying in the end, lets him say goodbye to the industry and his fans.
