Review of The Shining (1980) by Mike V — 12 Jun 2018
The Shining is a 1980 horror film produced and directed by Stanley Kubrick.
I viewed the shorter European version, and it was noticeable that a few scenes were poorly editing or didn't flow correctly.
The horror in this film mainly arises from the character portrayed by Nicholson (who gives a very good performance), and is more psychological / suspense rather than blood and gore. The dramatic music largely builds tension in the first half. Then the film picks up the pace and suspense in the second half, but for me there was still something missing. I would also have liked the 'shining' ability to have been explored and used further in the film.
1001.
