Review of The Shawshank Redemption (1994) by Derrick N — 28 Mar 2014
The Shawshank Redemption is, to say the least, an uplifting film. Which seems a little bit odd since we're talking about a film set inside of a prison. The Shawshank Redemption is truly a story about friendship, and hope. Upon Andy arriving at the prison we see something very interesting. And that would various prisoner's reaction to Andy. This is one of the most unique things about the film because it leaves a sort of mysteriousness about Andy. Really makes you wonder why he keeps to himself, all the time? The end will have you feeling uplifted and... hopeful. The Shawshank Redemption is a carefully crafted film, and does more than just display the cruel prison life, but somehow also manages to fill us wiith optimism.
4/5.
