A complete masterpiece in every aspect. Even the minor characters are well acted, and the two central characters of Andy and Red are perfectly portrayed by Tim Robbins and the indomitable Morgan Freeman.
Smart direction, tasteful use of music, the right amount of sentimentalism, well written and perfectly designed-The Shawshank Redemption is a supremely powerful film.
