Old fashioned in the best way. A movie literally about slogging through the shit, and coming up clean.
Managing to stay optimistic despite a sentence of eternal damnation. Darabont's classic manages to inspire hope, despite impossible odds. A story of friendship, hope, and determination.
While admittedly concessions have to be made regarding the plausability of some events, it is also important to remember the movie is about hope and friendship.
