Review of The Shape of Water (2017) by Meredith W — 20 Apr 2018
This dark but soulful fairy tale fantasy from director Guillermo del Toro is a bizarrely compelling film. The plot is unpredictable because of its premise - a lonely janitor forms a unique relationship with an amphibious creature that is being held in captivity at a top secret research facility in the 1960s.
In particular, cinematography is beautiful even if the water motif is a tad overdone.
