Review of The Shallows (2016) by Jono M — 23 Aug 2016
I sting for a shark movie; Jaws is a classic, and Deep Blue Sea is the perfect level of comedy and action. It's been a while since there's been a good quality one (and no, Sharknado definitely does not count as good quality), so I was pretty excited to head to the cinema to check out The Shallows.
And thankfully, it did pretty much what you'd want this type of movie to do. It reminded me a little of 127 Hours, except if instead of being trapped underneath a rock, James Franco had an angry shark trying to kill him.
A question worth asking of any shark movie is, 'Would this be a good enough mix of fun and action to enjoy when I'm hungover?' The answer for The Shallows is a definite yes.
