Review of The Seventh Victim (1943) by Alia P — 24 Dec 2007
It's got a nice, eerie feeling to it--but it never really takes off. The mystery, the romance, the characters in general don't really have much complexity or depth. The satanists don't actually do anything interesting except try to coerce a character into drinking poison--if it wasn't for its homicidal aspect, the satanic cult could well be your grandmother's bridge club.
Kim Hunter is pretty memorable in her film debut, and it's fun to see a young Hugh Beaumont. I admit that the ending was pretty effective.
