Review of The Seventh Victim (1943) by Bob W — 20 Jan 2008
The eeriness abounds in another of Val Lewtonâ??s classic fright flicks. This one highlights many of the things one comes to expect from such features. Naive young people stumbling into sinisterly clutches that seek to perpetuate some mind scarring evil.
However, it does all this through mood rather than out and out gore or flinch inducing scare tactics. There is a quality to the film that feels as if more could have been done, but that is not to say anything really detracts from the viewing pleasure.
