Review of The Seventh Victim (1943) by L J — 10 Jun 2007
Kim Hunter (in her film debut) stars as a young woman who goes to New York to search for her missing Sister. Once there she crosses paths with Satanists in this haunting, melancholic and downright disturbing masterpiece from producer Val Lewton's chiller series.
This for me is the very best of the Lewton films and it contains some of the most powerful and creepy scenes in all of cinema. How on earth did something this inventive and daring slip through at the height of the Hollywood studio period?
