Review of The Servant (1963) by Frances B — 18 Jul 2007
Like all "classical" british films it takes many cues from theatre. this made it very good, but mostly not magnificent. an interesting look at what drives people. it was fun to see how servant not only became master, but drained him of his essence.
cinematography is so great! I love how actors are placed in the screen, costume, and basically all the mise-en-scene. losey is a great filmmaker and bogarde is an amazing actor.
