Review of The Serpent's Egg (1977) by Ld P — 06 Jun 2009
Obviously an oddity as a Bergman film in that it is in English and set in Berlin. The film builds very slowly and meanders around for quite some time, which all contributes to a Kafkaesque or Orwellian feeling of dread and helplessness, by the en of the movie an over all nightmare phantasm is achieved, something quite different from Bergman's regular works indeed.
There is a lot in this movie that interests me but I guess I would have to say over all that it doesn't really work that well as a whole...
