Review of The Serpent and the Rainbow (1988) by Umit S — 01 Mar 2009

In my opinion the Serpent and the Rainbow was one of the best zombie movies to date. Here's why, now I don't know about you but the actual concept of zombies being created by a nuclear attack or as weapons for the government seems just a little far fetched cool just far fetched.

But in this it is all believable, and is enough to turn the zombie franchise on its head. You get pretty good gore here not a lot but a decent amount. The acting was very good you get solid performances from the lead cast and one unbelievable performance from Bill Pullman.

The soundtrack could have been better but it's not bad at all. I wish that they would have made it at a faster pace, there were some times that it got a little dull. But in my opinion the plot the acting and the directing made up for that.

The director was none other than Wes Craven and for those of you who only know Wes from A Nightmare on Elm Street you need to go get Last House on the Left (the original) and then this. The Serpent and the Rainbow is one of the best if not the best zombie movie I have ever seen I say check it out.
