Review of The Serpent and the Rainbow (1988) by Kevin H — 10 Jul 2009
It's great to watch, a fictionalized account of the non-fiction book that it was loosely based on. Good in that it's a story about REAL zombies, with a subplot that is genuinely scary- or creepy at the least- great scene involving a bride's corpse with Diamanda Galas providing vocals.
So if you want to learn about how zombies are really made, it gives you the general and authentic gist of it all. But the real intention was to make a sensational horror movie and it takes many liberties to do so.
And there are a couple VERY Hollywood moments added toward the end, almost like a subtle insult.
