Review of The Secret Life of Pets (2016) by Mandy P — 07 Jan 2017
Lovable, yet unoriginal. Pretty much Toy Story set with Pets. Of course, we had a story like this in many other movies, but Secret Life of Pets seems like the biggest copy of Toy Story.
This movie is the old game we all kniw "friendship is the most important, blah, blah, blah..." it's so old, that even the pets know it. Ha.
The animation is beautiful, that's a plus. There are the characters, too. Max is the stubborn type, Gidget is irritating, Snowball continually screams, and the thing was so you could hear barking, meowing, tweeting, screeching, howling, squeaking and whatever else sound the animals make. I love it, but if the whole thing wasn't so loud, I'd give this five stars. And the originality.
I guess the only decent character was the hawk Tiberius, who I loved throughout the entire film. I still highly recommend this movie, if you like slapstick humor and animals bouncing around the screen. It's not that big of a disappointment, but I did expect something more from this. I wasn't really expectibg to watch a movie that I'd already seen before a million times. But the concept is so cute, I just couldn't hate this movie, and the characters are all absolutely beautiful. With my favorite voice actors like Jenny Slate, Albert Brooks and Eric Stonestreet. Highly recommended.
