If you come from middle class South America, this movie will hit very close to home. This is a story about a mad that lives with the family that employs her. However she's much more than a maid. She's a cook, a nanny and really a surrogate mother for the child of the house.
Nonetheless, she's still and always will be a second class citizen. She doesn't eat with them, has to be subservient and is held hostage to their lifestyle and demands.
When she brings her daughter to live with them for a few weeks, all hell breaks lose. The kid is not impressed or habituated to take orders. She will not have it - sometimes at the expense of the mother almost losing her job.
The second mother is a great movie and it will be a lot stronger for people that grew up living in that environment.
