Review of The Searchers (1956) by Colleen C — 29 Dec 2008
I don't understand why so many people are saying that John Wayne's acting is bad in this movie. He portrays a character who is cynical, racist, and destructive, but there are the subtleties there as well: the fact that his own mother was killed in an Indian attack, the fact that he loved his brother's wife.
I think it was a well done, many layered performance.
