Review of The Searchers (1956) by Josè M — 21 Mar 2013
John Ford takes us on a a classic rite-of-passage journey, with Duke the grizzled, brooding mentor, and Jeffrey Hunter the bright-faced disciple. Natalie Wood looks wonderful in buckskin. Of Ford's many Monument Valley epics, this is the best.
The last scene--full of shadow and light, love and loneliness--is poetry.
