People seem to enter this movie wanting to dislike it due to (I'm assuming) it not getting good response at Cannes Festival. Ignore that. Is it the best movie of the year? Maybe not. Is it a great film? Absolutely.
McConaughey is great as usual, same for Watanabe and Watts. Impactful and visually stunning to boot. Cinematography was great here. The emotional punches hold weight here as well. To dismiss that is asinine.
If you're determined to hate it, more power to you. If you have an open mind, if you're a fan of film, you will probably enjoy this. It's not insanely heady or experimental but it's still quality.
Please support The Sea of Trees and not Sausage Party, or Suicide Squad, or _____ million dollar franchise that doesn't need any more ticket sales. Support original content that is worth watching.
Worth showing Hollywood that consumers can and do enjoy non-franchise CGI romp fests. I think this movie was fantastic and I stand by that.
