Review of The Science of Sleep (2006) by Mpaz Gatona D — 07 Jan 2012
One of those movies that will probably change your view towards something you have taken for granted throughout your life and almost never paid much attention to; namely, DREAMS! The movie does not lecture or carry a wisdom or tell you something you did not know or anything of the sort, it simply flaws beautifully with the complicated, nevertheless growing, love between Stephan (Gael Garcia Bernal) and Stephanie (Charlotte Gainsbourg), mixing dreams with reality in the most harmonious way possible. Even the ending does not say much about what happened or what is going to happen. It leaves you clueless, puzzled, yet entertained and heart-exhilarated, just like a beautiful dream does!
Bernal and Gainsbourg were adorable on screen and their zesty and spontaneous performance made me feel as if they were two children exploring the world around them.
