Review of The Sacrifice (1986) by Andrew B — 24 Oct 2008
An beautiful achievement. The extensively brilliant cinematography (courtesy my personal favorite, Sven Nykvist) really creates a haunting atmosphere alongside the heartfelt dialogue. This film reeks of Bergman through and through, but that doesn't make it too crowded for Tarkovsky's touch.
The pacing may be too slow for some, but it's worth the trip for sure.
