Review of The Sacrifice (1986) by Lynda M — 07 Apr 2009
It seems Tarkovsky and Bergman shared the same cast and crew. First I noticed Sven, then the guy from Fanny and Alexander, then a couple of Bergmans in the credits and before you know it, I was absorbed like Andrei usually does to me.
I would like to say this is not his most visual film, if anything it is his weakest besides Ivan's Childhood, but the story is more potent than that of his higher visual films such as "The Mirror" and "Nostalghia" Like always though, it is a hard movie to understand but never the less, whether I got it or not, it is profound.
