Review of The Rum Diary (2011) by Chris D — 16 Jun 2012
Johnny Depp is convincing, and the idea behind the story is deep, but the plot is too thin and predictable to keep the audience's interest. And unlike the earlier Depp-as-Thompson vehicle, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Rum Diary is not crazy enough to amuse or excite.
The scenes end up feeling hollow and staged, and the ending is rushed and forced.
