Review of The Rose (1979) by Jason S — 16 Aug 2007
"One of the great films, loosely based on the life of Janis Joplin, Bette gives a tour de force performance as a Rock star at the height of her success, being pushed to the breaking point by a non-stop tour schedule, her unsympathetic manager, and the drugs and the alcohol that she uses to get through.
A tragic story, well told and wonderfully constructed. The soundtrack is also a classic.
